About Me

First and foremost I am by no means an expert on beer and although I have home brewed before - I have not yet graduated to all grain brewing - I do not consider myself an experienced brewer. I do however, hold much admiration  for craft beer as well as the brewers behind them and have been an advocate for craft beer  for about 13 years. Born and raised in San Diego it was almost inevitable for me to be introduced to great craft beer early in my beer career. I remember my first non-traditional beers were Humbolt brewery's Hemp Ale (drawn to by my affection of Sativa at the time, which I no longer have), Karl Strauss's Endless Summer and Red Trolley. Those were always in rotation. But it wasn't until I first tasted Stone IPA that I truly found a new love of beer. Stone IPA and I were very good friends for many years and I would always take them over to parties and get together's to share with anyone willing to try. Unfortunately my friend's palates were not ready for the bold and bitter taste of Stone IPA and I quickly became the "beer snob" of the group. I found myself indulging in Stone's Ruination, Arrogant Bastard, Double Bastard.

Shortly after that breweries started opening up as quickly as the beer could flow.  Ballast Point's Sculpin, Big Eye and Double Dorado,  Coronado brewing's Mermaid Red and Islander IPA, Green Flash's West Coast IPA and Port Brewing's Wipeout IPA and Mongo were all part of my normal beer rotation. That's just the beers that were brewed in San Diego. Also in the rotation were Russian River's Pliny the Elder (when found), Rogue's Hazelnut Brown Nectar among others. You might see a trend here, my palate loves hoppy beers. At one point, I would just see the letters IPA and I would get it. My love for hops continues to this day but now I have a greater appreciation for all most types of beers (I still have a hard time with Belgians)

Wife and I

So here I am now, married to a beautiful woman, with 2 kids (an amazing 14 year old daughter and an awesome 2 year old son) and a passion for great craft beer living in America's finest city. Having kids, I never thought I would be able to love something so much, but my love for craft beer has also grown. Coincidence? Hah! Anyhoo I started this blog as an outlet of sorts about something I am passionate for. I hope you enjoy it and hopefully be able to join me and rate some beers.

Rockin' BFM!
