Being home to the ever growing list of great breweries, San Diego continues to revolutionize and expand the craft beer industry. With some of San Diego's original craft beer breweries like Karl Strauss and Stone, who helped paved the way and create the craft beer community in San Diego, to the breweries who have quickly grown into San Diego mainstays like Ballast Point, Port/Lost Abbey and Alpine, to some of the newest breweries like Mother Earth, Monkey Paw and Societe; it's hard not to find a beer that you won't like. San Diego's craft beer community is simply the best. I, like many of you, have the great opportunity to delight in all of the beer that is brewed in our very own backyard.
My goal is to try as many craft beers San Diego has to offer as I can. Then I wanted to rate them from a scale of 1-30, based on a 4 category system (Aroma, Appearance, Flavor & Pallet). Of course in doing so, I'll have to go to places that serve or sell the craft beer and I want to rate them as well. Bottle shops, liquor stores, gastro pubs, breweries, bars, taverns, and anywhere else in San Diego that offers craft beer. Those places will also get a rating.
My ratings are not going to be official like some other sites and I am not just limiting my selection to San Diego beers. How can I ignore the great beers from such breweries as Russian River, Avery, Ommegang & Rogue? What I want to do while rating is just to stir up conversation between other craft beer lovers out there. You can rate beer too. I am a hop head, which means the hoppier the beer is the higher the probability will be that I will like it. So hearing tasting thoughts from someone like my beautiful wife, who hates hoppy beers and has a taste for Belgians, is refreshing and fun. Drinking great beers and engaging in fun discussions always lead to a good time. I hope one day that we will be able to do just that. JOIN THE BEER CLUB.
